Effie I. Cortez

Effie I. Cortez, 80, of Croton Ave., New Castle, died Tuesday evening, October 14, 2008 at her home in New Castle. She was born February 10, 1928 in New Castle, Pennsylvania a daughter of the late Ellis and Viola (Livingston) Eckley. Mrs. Cortez worked various jobs in New Castle and in Hollywood, Florida, where she lived for many years.
She is survived by one son, Edward Mazur of Hollywood, FL, one daughter, Loretta Roman of Hollywood, FL, three sisters, Lois Giermanski, Charlotte Johns, and Twila Janiel all of New Castle, PA, one brother, Charles Eckley of Austintown, OH, and four grandchildren, Michael Dicino, Daniel and Brandon Roman and Nicole Gerdureno..
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two sisters, Irene Glover and Florence Augustine, and two brothers, George W. Eckley, and Ellis R. Eckley.
