Mary A. Kendra

Mary A. Kendra, 84, of Lathrop St., New Castle, died Monday morning, November 10, 2008 at Golden Hill Nursing Home in New Castle. She was born March 30, 1924 in New Castle, Pennsylvania a daughter of the late Antonio and Antoinette (Cenzori) Aluisia. She married Eugene ‘Gabby’ Kendra on December 7, 1942, he survives in New Castle. Mrs. Kendra worked in the Circulation Department of the New Castle News for 20 years. She was a member of St. Vitus Church and the Polish Falcons. Mrs. Kendra enjoyed baking, gardening, crocheting and making crafts.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by, three sons, John Kendra and his wife Linda of Dumfries, VA, Ronald Kendra and his wife Ruth of Newton Falls, OH, and Alan Kendra and his wife Vici of New Castle, PA, one daughter, Kathleen Kendra of Pittsburgh, PA, two brothers, Domenick and Anthony Aluisia both of New Castle, PA, three sisters, Nancy Giannone and Dorothy McCullough, both of New Castle, PA, and Patricia Cuscino of Anthem, AZ, seven grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son Larry Kendra and one brother, Patsy Aluisia.

Visitation will be held at the William F. & Roger M. DeCarbo Funeral Home on Tuesday, November 11, 2008 from 5 pm to 8 pm.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, November 12, 2008 at 10:00 am at St. Vitus Church. Father John Petrarulo of St. Vitus Church will be officiating. A funeral procession will leave the funeral home at 9:30 am. Entombment will be in the Castle View Memorial Gardens.
