Betty Jane Sands

Betty Jane Sands, 90, of West North Street, New Castle, formerly of Mercer Street, died Monday, January 19, 2015 at Jameson Memorial Hospital in New Castle. She was born December 23, 1924 in New Castle, a daughter of the late Joe and Margaret (Luongo) Tuscano. She married Vincent V. Sands on January 17, 1946, he survives in New Castle. Mrs. Sands loved her career as a medical transcriber at St. Francis Hospital retiring after 28 years. She was an active member of St. Vitus Church and was involved with the bazaar for 25 years. She enjoyed cooking and spending time with her family.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons, Angelo Sands and his wife Pat Liehr of Boca Raton, FL, and Vincent Sands and his wife Terry of Bethel Park, PA, two sisters, Mary Carmen Camera and Patty Biordi, both of New Castle, four grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, Chuck, John, and Joe Tuscano, and one sister, Helen Biangone.

Visitation will be held at the William F. & Roger M. DeCarbo Funeral Home, 926 Cunningham Avenue on Wednesday, January 21, 2015 from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, January 21, 2015 at 12:00 P.M. at St. Vitus Church. Father Bill Siple of St. Vitus Church will be officiating. A funeral procession will leave the funeral home at 11:30 AM. Burial will be in the St. Vitus Cemetery in New Castle.
