Vera N. Dececio
February 13, 1926 — November 22, 2008
Vera N. DeCecio, 82, of Golden Hill Nursing Home, formerly of Blews Way, New Castle, died Saturday morning, November 22, 2008 at Jameson Memorial Hospital in New Castle. She was born February 13, 1926 in Volant, Pennsylvania a daughter of the late Frank and Rosa (San Salone) Alessio. Mrs. DeCecio was married to James P. DeCecio who died on April 21, 1968. Mrs. DeCecio worked as a School Bus Driver for Ellwood City Transit for 10 years. She enjoyed making ceramics and taught ceramics classes for a number of years. She was also a wonderful cook and baker.
She is survived by three daughters, Donna DeCaprio and her husband Edward and Kathy Papa and her husband Dr. Richard, all of New Castle, PA, and Liz Baldelli and her husband Bill of Ellwood City, PA, three sisters, Loretta Bartell of Boca Raton, FL, Mary Schmizzi of Bloomfield, MI, and Amelia Alessio of Livonia, MI, five grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one brother, Frank Alessio, and two sisters, Catherine Sainato, and Jennie Pedulla.
A private funeral service was held at St. Vitus Church. Father Robert Zajdel of St. Vitus Church officiated. Burial will be in the Holy Redeemer Cemetery in Ellwood City. Funeral arrangements are by the William F. & Roger M. DeCarbo Funeral Home.
