Berardino 'Benny' Mascetta

Berardino ‘Benny’ Mascetta, 84, of Gale Street, New Castle, died Saturday, February 7, 2015 at Jameson Memorial Hospital in New Castle. He was born September 27, 1930 in Palena, Italy, a son of the late Raphael and Anna (Ferrara) Mascetta. He was married to Diana (Ambrosia) Mascetta for 54 years, she survives in New Castle. Mr. Mascetta worked at the Crane Company and was a butcher for Castle Brand retiring after many years of service. He enjoyed playing bocci, making wine, homemade sausage, and gardening. He also loved spending time with his family and grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two children, Theresa Essinger and her husband Dennis of New Castle, and Ralph Mascetta and his wife Michele of New Castle, one sister, Lucia Naldi of Rome, Italy, and two grandchildren, Miriah Mascetta and R.J. Mascetta.

He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Raphael and Gaetano Mascetta, and one sister, Catherine Lucchitti.

Visitation will be held at the William F. & Roger M. DeCarbo Funeral Home, 926 Cunningham Avenue on Tuesday, February 10, 2015 from 4 PM to 8 PM.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, February 11, 2015 at 10:30 AM at St. Joseph the Worker Church. Father James Downs will officiate. A funeral procession will leave the funeral home at 10:00 AM. Entombment will be in the Castle View Memorial Gardens.
