Stella K. Alfera, 82, of Locust St., New Castle, died Wednesday afternoon, December 3, 2008 at Mill Creek Community Hospital in Erie, Pennsylvania. She was born July 14, 1926 in New Castle, Pennsylvania a daughter of the late Stanley and Catherine Szymanski. She married Orlando, ‘Barney’ Alfera in 1948, he survives in New Castle. Mrs. Alfera worked in the circulation department of the New Castle New for 20 years. She was a member of the Sons of Italy and the KP Club in New Castle. She enjoyed cooking, baking and sewing and will be fondly remembered and sadly missed as a devoted wife and mother.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by, one daughter, Anne Marie Roda and her husband Rev. Randy of Erie, PA, three sons, Vincent J. Alfera and his wife Connie of Cuyahoga Falls, OH, William C. Alfera and his wife Valerie of Tequesta, FL, and David A. Alfera and his wife Lisa of Annapolis, MD, nine grandchildren and one great grandchild.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Nellie Dombeck and Louise Kociela.
Visitation will be held at the William F. & Roger M. DeCarbo Funeral Home on Friday, December 5, 2008 from 5 pm to 8 pm.
A Blessing Service will be held Friday, December 5, 2008 at 8:30 pm at the William F. & Roger M. DeCarbo Funeral Home, Inc.. Father Phil Farrell of St. Camillus Church will be officiating. Burial will be in the Madonna Cemetery.
