Bruce W. Damphier, Sr.

Bruce W. Damphier, Sr., 82, of North Cascade Street, New Castle, died Friday, March 6, 2015 at Trinity Living Center in Grove City, Pennsylvania. He was born November 12, 1932 in Amsterdam, New York a son of the late Lester and Margaret (Reiff) Damphier. He was married to Ruth (Marshall) Damphier for 57 years, she survives in New Castle. Mr. Damphier was a truck driver for Milton Can Co. in Elizabeth, NJ, retiring after 18 years. He was a Marine veteran of the Korean War. Mr. Damphier was a member of the Mason Lodge and the AMVETS in Lyndhurst, NJ. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and camping.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children, Tammy Murphy and her husband Gary of New Castle, Duane Damphier of Etica, NY, and Darin Damphire and his wife Jessica of Wells, NY, two step-sons, Phil Carter of Florida and Michael Carter and his wife Sue of Big Bear, CA, five grandchildren and five step-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by one son, Bruce Damphier, Jr., and four brothers, Lester, David, Alan and Paul Damphier.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, March 22, 2015 at Riley’s Funeral Home in Amsterdam, NY. Local arrangements are by the William F. & Roger M. DeCarbo Funeral Home, 926 Cunningham Avenue.
