Margaret C. ‘Peggy’ Vanassa, 93, of Countyline St., New Castle, died Saturday morning, December 13, 2008 at Jameson Memorial Hospital in New Castle. She was born February 23, 1915 in New Castle, Pennsylvania a daughter of the late Emil and Mary (Cusano) Cercell. She was married to Samuel Vanassa, who died on October 22, 1992. Mrs. Vanassa was an Inspector at the Shenango China for 14 years. She also was an Elevator Operator at Lawrence Savings for 4 years. Mrs. Vanassa was a member of the Croton United Methodist Church, and enjoyed sewing, crocheting, baking and cooking and reading her bible.

She is survived by one son, Sam Vanassa of Enumclaw, WA, three sisters, Dorothy Lang, Nellie Lovaglio, and Virginia Caravaggio all of New Castle, PA, eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Jeanne Zona, two brothers, Michael Cercell, and Andy Cercell, and three sisters, Jennie Singer, Rose Galanski, and Mary Sacchinelli.

Visitation will be held at the William F. & Roger M. DeCarbo Funeral Home on Monday, December 15, 2008 from 5 pm to 8 pm.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 16, 2008 at 11:00 am at the William F. DeCarbo Memorial Chapel. Rev. Dr. Ronald A. Wanless of Croton United Methodist Church will be officiating. Burial will be in the Castle View Memorial Gardens in New Castle.
