Fred O. Caruso, 95, of East Lutton Steet, New Castle, died Monday, May 18, 2015 at Golden Hill Nursing Home in New Castle. He was born February 8, 1920 in New Castle, a son of the late Frank and Marianna (Tranquillo) Caruso. He was married to the late Marie M. (Augostine) Caruso who died July 10, 1991. Mr. Caruso was a car inspector for B&O Railroad retiring after 40 years. He was an Army veteran of World War II serving in Europe and a member of the American Legion. Mr. Caruso enjoyed hunting and fishing and singing old Italian songs.
He is survived by three children, Francis Caruso of Florida, Alfred Caruso of New Castle, and Judith Caruso of New Castle, eleven grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Samuel, Elmer, and Michael Caruso, and two sisters, Gloria Chairini and Madeline Fair.
Visitation will be held at the William F. & Roger M. DeCarbo Funeral Home, 926 Cunningham Avenue on Saturday, May 23, 2015 from 10 AM to 12 PM.
Blessing services will be held Saturday, May 23, 2015 at 12:00 P.M. at the William F. DeCarbo Memorial Chapel. Father Frank Almade of St. Vitus Church will be officiating. Burial will be in the Castle View Memorial Gardens.
