Katherine A. Joseph

Katherine A. Joseph, 85, of E. Euclid Ave., New Castle, formerly of Maryland Ave., died Thursday evening, February 5, 2009 at Golden Hill Nursing Home. She was born November 3, 1923 in McKeesport, Pennsylvania a daughter of the late Michael and Yesmine (Bashore) Abraham. She was married to John A. ‘Deo’ Joseph who died on August 17, 1995. Mrs. Joseph was a member of the St. John the Baptist Maronite Catholic Church. She briefly worked at the Johnson Bronze and was a cashier at Big J Supermarket for 15 years. She enjoyed cooking and crocheting. Mrs. Joseph loved spending time with her grandchildren, great grandchildren and family.

She is survived by one daughter, Cindy Verdi and her husband Dominic of New Castle, PA, two sons, J. Alan Joseph and his wife Angela of West Pittsburg, PA, and Larry Joseph and his wife Alyson of New Castle, PA, six grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one brother, Michael Abraham, and three sisters, Mary Korey, Rose Betters, and Anna Betters.

Visitation will be held at the William F. & Roger M. DeCarbo Funeral Home on Sunday, February 8, 2009 from 3 pm to 6 pm.

Divine Liturgy will be celebrated Monday, February 9, 2009 at 11:00 am at St. John the Baptist Maronite Catholic Church. Father Kevin Beaton of St. John the Baptist Maronite Catholic Church will be officiating. A funeral procession will leave the funeral home at 10:30 am. Entombment will be in the Resurrection Mausoleum.
