Frank ‘Fats’ Cubellis, 81, of South Lafayette Street, New Castle, died Saturday, September 5, 2015 at Overlook Nursing Home in New Wilmington. He was born March 8, 1934 in New Castle, a son of the late Luigi and Rose (Magliery) Cubellis. He was married to Mary Teresa (Lombardo) Cubellis on October 19, 1957, she survives in New Castle. Mr. Cubellis was a Social Studies Teacher at Springfield Local High School retiring after 25 years. He was an Army veteran of the Korean Era serving stateside. He was a member of Wayside Emmanuel Church and an Ordained Minister for a number of years. He was a graduate of Youngstown State University and Westminster College. Fats will be remembered most for being a PIAA official in football, baseball, basketball, softball and volleyball for 58 years. In 2012 he was inducted into the PIAA Officials' Hall of Honor and Recognition. He was inducted into the Lawrence County Historical Society Sports Hall of Honor in 2013.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son, Guy ‘Guido’ Cubellis of Houston, TX, one daughter-in-law, Darlene Cubellis of New Castle, one brother, Albert Cubellis of Austintown, OH, two sisters, Mary Jane and Ann Cubellis, both of New Castle, two grandchildren, Zuri and Peyton Cubellis, two step-grandchildren, Tessa Adelekan and Johnnal Fuqua and two step-great grandchildren, Savannah and Arin Bryant.

He was also preceded in death by one son, Frank Cubellis, Jr., five brothers, Thomas, Louis, Anthony, Nick, and Charles Cubellis, one sister, Concetta Black.

Visitation will be held at the William F. & Roger M. DeCarbo Funeral Home, 926 Cunningham Avenue on Tuesday, September 8, 2015 from 4 PM to 7 PM.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 9, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. at Wayside Emmanuel Church. Rev. Randy Crum of Wayside Emmanuel Church will be officiating. A funeral procession will leave the funeral home at 10:15 AM. Entombment will be in the Castle View Memorial Gardens. The New Castle Area Honor Guard will perform Military Funeral Rites at the church.
