Anthony Chiaverini, 75, of Orchardpark Drive, New Castle, formerly of Willowhurst Circle, died Monday, September 21, 2015 at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh. He was born September 23, 1939 in Palena, Italy, a son of the late Ferdinando and Maria (Muscente) Chiaverini. He married Rosina L. (Crisci) Chiaverini on February 7, 1959, she survives in New Castle. Mr. Chiaverini worked at Silverman's Shoe Store for 17 years and then was owner and operator of Tony's Shoe World for 24 years. He also was co-owner of Crisci Food Equipment for 11 years. Mr. Chiaverini was a member of St. Vitus Church and was very active with the bazaar and the church. He was also on the Board of Directors for Challenges and Adams Grove. He coached CYO Basketball for St. Vitus Church for 21 years and was active with Laurel Elementary Basketball for a number of years. He was an avid sports fan and loved playing tennis. Mr. Chiaverini was involved with American Field Service High School Exchange Program and hosted four exchange students over the years. He enjoyed flower gardening, yard work, being outdoors and traveling. He also loved spending time with his friends and family.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by one brother, Mauro Chiaverini of York, PA, and ten nieces and nephews, Randall Firmi, Rodney Firmi, Ryan Firmi, Fred Chiaverini, Cathy Nocera, Rena Kirsch, Mauro Chiaverini, Michael Chiaverini, David Chiaverini, and Mark Chiaverini.

He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Anthony Chiaverini and Rino Chiaverini, and one sister, Christina Chiaverini.

Visitation will be held at the William F. & Roger M. DeCarbo Funeral Home, 926 Cunningham Avenue on Thursday, September 24, 2015 from 3 PM to 6 PM.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, September 25, 2015 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Vitus Church. Father Frank Almade of St. Vitus Church will be officiating. A funeral procession will leave the funeral home at 9:30 AM. Burial will be in the St. Vitus Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to: Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh in Anthony's name.
