Joseph E. Chill, 88, of Paul Street, New Castle, formerly of Marshall Avenue, died Tuesday, October 20, 2015 at Haven Convalescent Home in New Castle. He was born October 21, 1926 in New Castle, a son of the late Joseph and Assunta (Fontinello) Chill. He was married to the late Mary Ann (Perrotta) Chill who died March 10, 2014. Mr. Chill worked at Fenati Brickyard and then worked for the City of New Castle Public Works retiring after over 20 years. He was a Navy veteran of World War II serving in Europe on the USS Europa. Mr. Chill was a member of St. Vitus Church and the Holy Name Society and Duca Degli Abruzzi, and he enjoyed gardening. He also loved being a father and caring for his family.
He is survived by two children, Theresa J. Davis and her husband Winston of McKinney, TX and Norman J. Chill and wife Monica of Cross Lanes, WV, one sister, Eleanore Schepp of New Castle, four grandchildren, Nathan Chill, Matthew Chill, Nicholas Chill, and Gina Marie Bilpuch and four great grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by four brothers, Nicholas, Albert, Victor, and Anthony Chill, and two sisters, Elvera Miles and Viola Domenick.
Visitation will be held at the William F. & Roger M. DeCarbo Funeral Home, 926 Cunningham Avenue on Monday, October 26, 2015 from 5 PM to 8 PM.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, October 27, 2015 at 10:00 A.M. at Mary Mother of Hope Church. Father Larry Adams of St. Vitus Church will be officiating. A funeral procession will leave the funeral home at 9:30 AM. Burial will be in the St. Vitus Cemetery.
