Raymond J. Burgo

Raymond J. Burgo, 64, of Brookshire Drive, New Castle, passed away Friday, November 6, 2015 at his residence in New Castle. He was born in New Castle on November 8, 1950 the son of the late Raymond and Francis (Gasser) Burgo. He was married to Sandra L. (Cioffi) Burgo on October 9, 1971, she survives in New Castle. Mr. Burgo started working for Giant Eagle as a teenager and retired after 44 years as President and COO of the company. Ray was a veteran of the Army National Guard and was very supportive and active in numerous local charities, especially the American Cancer Society and the St. Anthony School Programs. He was a member of the Board of Directors of the Cray Youth & Family Services and the New Castle Red Hurricane Club, among others. In 1997 Ray was named Man of the Year by the Pittsburgh Association of Manufacturers Representatives. He was a passionate golfer and Steelers fan and loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Ray’s humility, generosity and sense of humor will not be forgotten.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Raeann Traficante and her children, Raymond and Angelo Traficante of Bridgeville, PA and Rochelle B. Seideneck, her husband Chad and their children, Finn and Lola Seidenck of Mars, PA, and two sisters, Charlene Popovich of New Castle and Janet Noden of Ravenna, OH.

Visitation will be held Monday, November 9, 2015 from 2 PM to 8 PM at the William F. & Roger M. DeCarbo Funeral Home, 926 Cunningham Avenue, New Castle.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, November 10, 2015 at 10:00 AM at Mary Mother of Hope Church in New Castle. Father Frank Almade of Mary Mother of Hope Church will officiate. A funeral procession will leave the funeral home at 9:30 AM. Burial will be in St. Vitus Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to the: Larry J. Cioffi Scholarship Fund, 115 N.
