Raymond ‘Rayman’ Quarterson, Jr., 59, of Jackson Ave., New Castle, died Wednesday afternoon, March 4, 2009 at Jameson Memorial Hospital in New Castle. He was born April 15, 1949 in New Castle, Pennsylvania a son of the late Raymond and Jane (Dunn) Quarterson. He married Angela M. (Morella) Quarterson on November 10, 1975, she survives in New Castle. Ray proudly served in the United States Marine Corps as a heavy equipment operator during the Vietnam War earning the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal and the Combat Action Ribbon. While Ray did work an assortment of jobs through the years, he most enjoyed his time working as the head carpenter at the D.E.G. Film Studio in Wilmington, NC and then as work foreman at the Lawrence County Housing Authority. When Ray wasn't hard at work making studio sets or directing projects for the housing authority he like to spend his leisure time doing carpentry, yard work and fishing. He also loved spending time with his family.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by, three daughters, Raeann Quarterson of Indianapolis, IN, Dr. Kylee Quarterson of Robinson Twp., PA, and Tech Sgt. Adrien Neill and her husband Staff Sgt. Chase Neill of Kaiserslautern, Germany, two grandchildren, Van and Makenzie Neill, one brother, Robert Quarterson Massachusetts, his mother-in-law, Edith (Rossi) Morella, brother-in-law, Ralph Morella of New Castle, sister-in-law, Cindy Russo of New Castle, nephew, Randy Russo and wife Vanessa of New Wilmington and niece, Nikki Lynn Russo of New Castle.

Visitation will be held at the William F. & Roger M. DeCarbo Funeral Home on Friday, March 6, 2009 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm.

Blessing services will be held Saturday, March 7, 2009 at 12:00 pm at the William F. DeCarbo Memorial Chapel. Father John Petrarulo of St. Vitus Church will be officiating. The New Castle Area Honor Guard will perform military funeral rites at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Parkside Cemetery.
