William C. Kahrer

William C. Kahrer, 70, of E. Washington St., New Castle, died Wednesday evening, March 4, 2009 at UPMC Horizon Greenville in Greenville, Pennsylvania. He was born July 15, 1938 in New Castle, Pennsylvania a son of the late William and Mary (McGivern) Kahrer. He married Rose A. (Pisano) Kahrer on February 3, 1961, she survives in New Castle. Mr. Kahrer was a machine operator at Flowline for 10 years and retired from Penn Engineering as a fitter after 29 years. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War. Mr. Kahrer loved spending time with his granddaughters.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by, one daughter, Cynthia Barnes and her husband Ronald of Sharpsville, PA, one son, William F. Kahrer of New Castle, PA, two brothers, Herb and Fred Kahrer, both of New Castle, PA, three granddaughters, Jennifer, Mary and Nina Barnes, and two brother-in-law, Frank Pisano and his wife Evelyn and Ralph Pisano and his wife Ann, all of New Castle.

He was also preceded in death by his brother Raymond Kahrer.

Visitation will be held at the William F. & Roger M. DeCarbo Funeral Home on Friday, March 6, 2009 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, March 7, 2009 at 10:00 am at St. Vitus Church. Father John Petrarulo of St. Vitus Church will be officiating. A funeral procession will leave the funeral home at 9:30 am. Burial will be in the St. Vitus Cemetery.
