Elijah 'Doc' Doster

Elijah ‘Doc’ Doster, Jr., 81, of N. Mercer Street, New Castle, died Friday, January 1, 2016 at Jameson Memorial Hospital in New Castle. He was born August 13, 1934 in New Castle, a son of the late Elijah and Bessie (Chatman) Doster. He was married to the late Catherine L. (Gardner) Doster who died January 1, 2008. Mr. Doster was a janitor for the New Castle School District, Rose Avenue and George Washington Schools retiring after 32 years of service. He was an Air Force veteran of the Korean Era serving with the 23rd Material Squadron. Doc was a member of the Lawrence Lodge #18 and Local Union #261. He enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren.

He is survived by two sons, Robert L. Smith of Pittsburgh and Addison Gardner of New Castle, eighteen grandchildren, thirty-one great grandchildren and seven great great grandchildren.

He was preceded in two children, Marion Chism and Tyrone Gardner, five brothers, Clingle, Daniel, James, Robert, and Samuel Doster, four sisters, Dora Thomas, Elsie, Gussie, and Lessie Doster, his granddaughter Natosha Taylor, his great grandson O'Marion Taylor, and his great great grandson Elijah Boice.

Visitation will be held at Ebenezer Church of God in Christ on Thursday, January 7, 2016 from 4 PM to 8 PM and Friday, January 8, 2016 from 10 AM to 11 AM at Ebenezer Church of God in Christ, S. Jefferson Street.

Funeral services will be held Friday, January 8, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. at Ebenezer Church of God in Christ. Rev. Eric Brooks of Ebenezer Church of God in Christ will be officiating. Burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery. The New Castle Area Honor Guard will perform Military Funeral Rites at the church. Funeral arrangements are by the William F. & Roger M. DeCarbo Funeral Home, 926 Cunningham Avenue.
