Charlotte S. Vellone

Charlotte S. Vellone, 91, of formerly of West Madison Avenue, New Castle, died Saturday, January 9, 2016 at Haven Nursing Home in New Castle. She was born December 25, 1924 in New Castle, a daughter of the late Stanley and Mary (Gianatino) Palumbo. She was married to the late Tullio E. Vellone who died June 22, 2007. Mrs. Vellone worked as a nurses’ aid at Avalon, Edison Manor and Golden Hill Nursing Homes retiring after 30 years. She was a volunteer at St. Francis Hospital and St. Francis Hospice. She was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Church and was very active in the church. Charlotte was an avid reader, loved listening and singing music, crocheting and baking, especially at Easter and Christmas. She loved being with her family and loved her dog Susie and cat Huey.

She is survived by one son, Daniel G. Vellone and his wife Antoinette of New Castle, and one grandson, Adam Vellone and his wife Rosa, and a number of nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by six brothers, Joseph, Charles, Angelo, James, Augustine, and Edward Palumbo, and six sisters, Elizabeth Nido, Agnes Palumbo, Jennie DiBenedicti, Stella Angelo, Lucy French, and Rose Conti.

Visitation will be held at the William F. & Roger M. DeCarbo Funeral Home, 926 Cunningham Avenue on Friday, January 22, 2016 from 5 PM to 8 PM.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, January 23, 2016 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Vincent de Paul Church. Father Frank Almade of St. Vincent de Paul Church will be officiating. A funeral procession will leave the funeral home at 9:30 AM. Burial will be in the St. Lucy Cemetery.
