Frank R. Papa, Sr., 94, of Duquesne Street, New Castle died Friday, January 22, 2016 at Jameson Memorial Hosptial. He was born in New Castle on January 4, 1922, the son of the late Luigi and Alice (Germaine) Papa. He was married to the late Lena H. (Morgan) Papa who died July 1, 2007. Mr. Papa was a wheeler at Fenati Brick for 20 years, he then worked for Kennedy Tubular for 10 years and Trader Horn for 5 years. He was an Army veteran of World War II serving in Germany, he received 3 Bronze Stars for his service. Mr. Papa was a member of the Duke’s Club and VFW and was an avid sports fan, especially the Steelers. He enjoyed gardening and traveling to Florida.
He is survived by one daughter, Marlane A. Hosbach of New Castle and one granddaughter, Stephanie Klingensmith of New Castle.
He also preceded in death by one son, Frank R. Papa, Jr. and four sisters, Loretta DeBlasio, Virginia Papa, Christine Trocci and Angeline Slavic.
Visitation will be held Monday, January 25, 2016 from 10 AM to 12 Noon at the William F. & Roger M. DeCarbo Funeral Home, 926 Cunningham Avenue.
A blessing service will be held Monday, January 25, 2016 at 12 Noon at the William F. DeCarbo Memorial Chapel. Father Frank Almade will officiate. The New Castle Area Honor Guard will perform Military Funeral Rites at the funeral home. Burial will be in Parkside Cemetery.
