Joseph A. Milone, Sr., 86, Tenth St., West Pittsburg, died Wednesday morning, April 22, 2009 at Jameson Memorial Hospital in New Castle. He was born January 4, 1923 in New Castle, Pennsylvania a son of the late Cesare and Gloria (Bucci) Milone. He was married to Pauline (Senchak) Milone who died in 2000. Mr. Milone was a machine operator at Youngstown Sheet and Tube for 22 years. He was a member of the St. Vincent de Paul Parish and a former member of the Eagles Club and Sons of Italy. Mr. Milone was also an avid Shenango and New Castle Football Fan. He was an Army veteran of World War II serving with the 453rd Ordnance Evacuation Company. Mr. Milone served in Europe and received the European African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with 5 Bronze Stars. He fought at the Battle of the Bulge and loved to talk about his time in the service.
He is survived by two daughters, Patricia McCain of Omaha, NE, and Paula Milone of West Pittsburg, PA, two sons, Joseph Milone, Jr. and his wife Josie of West Pittsburg, PA, and Michael Milone, Sr. and his wife Kimberly of New Castle, PA, one brother, John Milone of New York, seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Ben, Sam, and Phillip Milone, one sister, Clair Milone, and one grandson, Joseph Milone, III.
A private visitation and blessing service will be held at the William F. DeCarbo Memorial Chapel. Father Steven Palsa of St. Vincent de Paul Church will be officiating. Burial will be in the Parkside Cemetery. The New Castle Area Honor Guard will perform Military Funeral Rites at the Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are by the William F. & Roger M. DeCarbo Funeral Home.
