David Griffin, Jr.

David Griffin, Jr., 73 of New Castle, PA passed away on February 19, 2016 at Jameson Memorial Hospital in New Castle, PA.

He was born in Marks, MS on December 10, 1942. His parents were the late Ida Mae-McGraw-Brown-Griffin and David Griffin, Sr.

David was a skilled home remodeling professional who worked diligently in his craft. He formerly worked at U.S. Steel and he enjoyed spending time with his family and sharing memories. He was also an educator to the younger generation on family history. David’s home was a welcoming place for family and friends.

He leaves behind his former wives Doris Flowers, Rosie Griffin, and a very close companion, Jennie Tally; six daughters, Dwana Callahan, of Farrell, PA, Doreatha Bailey, Deanna Griffin, Jasmine Griffin, Charesse Griffin, Tyra Griffin, of New Castle, PA; three sons, Dayna Griffin, Sr., Davon Griffin, Jeremy Griffin, of New Castle, PA; six step-children, Franklin Hines, Maurice Hines, Mike Hines, Vincent Hines, Rhonda Mitchell, and DeShawn Mitchell, 28 grandchildren, 17 step-grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, David was preceded in death by two sons; David Dwayne Griffin and Tyrone Griffin; one step daughter, Darcell Hines, four sisters; Addlonia Tutson, Claudelle Jenkins, Ida Ree Moss, and Safronia Pace; one great-granddaughter, DeJanae Griffin.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 25th, 2016 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Friday, February 26th, 2016 at the William F. & Roger M. DeCarbo Funeral Home, 926 Cunningham Avenue. The service will start immediately following the viewing on Friday at the William F. DeCarbo Memorial Chapel. Apostle David M. Young, Sr. will officiate.
