Michael A. ‘Jumbo’ Gangone, 86, of Hall Town Road, Wampum, died Tuesday, March 22, 2016 at UPMC Shadyside Hospital in Pittsburg, PA. He was born in Niles, OH on December 21, 1929 a son of the late Michael and Berlinda (Ross) Gangone. He was married to JoAnn (Slamon) Gangone on March 1, 2006, she survives in Wampum. Michael, or J as he was affectionately known, was a self-employed barber for over 30 years in Niles. He was an Army Air Corp. veteran of the World War II and Korean War era. He was a member of many social organizations and clubs and all of his friends loved his pepper and egg sandwiches. He also enjoyed golfing, dancing, dabbling in the stock market and horse racing. Most of all he loved spending time with his granddaughters.
In addition to his wife he is survived by three step-children, Lenora Gordon of Woodland Hills, CA, Gina Cozza of Dallas, TX and Brent Gordon of Woodland Hills, CA, two granddaughters, Lisa and Leah Cozza, two sister-in-law, Julie Gangone of Carnegie, PA and NorLee Sallie of New Castle, one brother-in-law, Dr. Dennis Slamon of Woodland Hills, CA, and a number of nieces and nephews that he loved dearly.
He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Nick and Louis Gangone and two sisters, Ida Dicentia and Josephine Turk.
Visitation will be held Saturday, March 26, 2016 from 12 noon to 3 PM at the William F. & Roger M. DeCarbo Funeral Home, 926 Cunningham Avenue.
A blessing service will be held Saturday, March 26, 2016 at 3:00 PM at the funeral home. Father Frank Almade of St. Vitus Chruch will officiate. The New Castle Area Honor Guard will perform Military Funeral Rites at the funeral home. Burial will be in Valley View Cemetery.
