John Anthony Marzula

John Anthony Marzula, 79, of New Castle, passed away on Saturday, April 2, 2016, surrounded by his beloved family. He was the youngest of seven children born to the late Giovanni and Josephine (Pintabona) Marzula, and lived his entire life in New Castle. He married his high school sweetheart, Patricia J. (Creswell) Marzula, on April 6, 1957, who will deeply miss him. John was an engineer on the Pennsylvania and Conrail Railroads retiring after 42 years of dedicated service. John was an example of a life well-lived and a man well-loved. He was a devoted family man and a treasured friend. He enjoyed woodworking, vegetable gardening and sharing what he grew with all of his neighbors. His generous spirit made him easy to know and love.
In addition to his beloved wife, he is survived by five children who adored him, Michele Joiner and husband Don of Virginia Beach, VA, Leslie Johnson and husband Tim of Pittsburgh, John Marzula, Jr. and wife Diane of Pittsburgh, Lisa Jenkins and husband Chuck of Erie, and Vincent Marzula and wife Kim of Pittsburgh, a devoted brother, Sam Marzula and wife Maryann of New Castle, a caring sister-in-law, Wanda Marzula, fourteen loving grandchildren and one treasured great-granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by four brothers, James, Patsy, Tony and Chuck Marzula and one sister, Rose Pagano.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, April 6, 2016, from 4 PM to 7 PM at the William F. & Roger M. DeCarbo Funeral Home, 926 Cunningham Avenue.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday, April 7, 2016, at 10:00 AM at Mary Mother of Hope Catholic Church. Reverend Frank Almade will officiate. A funeral procession will leave the funeral home at 9:30 AM. Burial will be in Parkside Cemetery.
