Harvey L. Lemmon, Sr., 85, of Pearl St., New Castle, died Thursday, May 14, 2009 at Avalon Nursing Center. He was born January 21, 1924 in Kittanning, Pennsylvania a son of the late John and Mary (Reighert) Lemmon. He married Frances (Mastropietro) Lemmon on May 16, 1946, she survives in New Castle. Mr. Lemmon was a steel roller retiring after 42 years from National Steel. He was an Army veteran of World War II serving in Normandy, Northern France, and Rhineland. For his service Mr. Lemmon received the European African Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon with 1 Silver Star, Good Conduct Medal, Distinguished Unit Badge with Bronze Arrowhead and the World War II Victory Medal. Mr. Lemmon also enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening and loved spending time with his grandchildren.

He is survived by, two daughters, Dianna Hiler, and Deloris Genareo and her husband John, all of New Castle, two sons, Harvey L. Lemmon, Jr. and his wife Audrey of New Castle, and John D. Lemmon of Jamestown, PA, thirteen grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren..

He was preceded in death by, his son Duane L. Lemmon, four brothers, John, Edward, Ellsworth, and William Lemmon, and four sisters, Harriet McElhaney, Marie Bruce, Ruth Crytzer, and Isabelle Jackson.

Visitation will be held at the William F. & Roger M. DeCarbo Funeral Home on Sunday, May 18, 2009 from 5 to 8 pm.

Funeral services will be held Monday, May 18, 2009 at 11:00 am at the William F. DeCarbo Memorial Chapel. Rev. Dennis Bupp will be officiating. Burial will be in the Castle View Memorial Gardens.
