Robert S. Heathcote, 92, of Elwyn Avenue, Springdale, PA, died Monday, June 6, 2016 at UPMC St. Margaret Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He was born January 9, 1924 in Nova Scotia, Canada the son of the late Alice Heathcote. He is married to Patricia (Coombs) Heathcote, she survives in Springdale, PA. Mr. Heathcote was a machinist at Lockley Machine Co. retiring after 45 years. He was a World War II Navy veteran serving at Normandy and in the Pacific. He enjoyed reading, photography and reading his Bible, he also loved spending time with all his grandchildren.
In addition to his wife he is survived by two children, Heather Palmiere and husband Nick of Springdale, PA, and Mark Heathcote of New Castle, PA, two grandchildren, James Edder and Kelly and Jeffrey Edder and Julie, four great grandchildren, Melinda, Andrew, Ashley and Jeffrey and two great great grandchildren, Olive and Shiloh.
He was also preceded in death by one granddaughter, Holly Edder.
Visitation will be held at the William F. & Roger M. DeCarbo Funeral Home, 926 Cunningham Avenue, New Castle on Thursday, June 9, 2016 from 4 PM to 6 PM.
The New Castle Area Honor Guard will perform Military Funeral Rite at 6:00 PM on Thursday at the William F. DeCarbo Memorial Chapel. Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery in New Castle.
