Richard A. Barkett, 65, of Pensacola, FL, died Tuesday, July 12, 2016 in Annapolis, MD. He was born in Youngstown, OH, on July 22, 1950, a son of the late David and Fannie (Davis) Barkett. Mr. Barkett was a self-employed financial lender for over 30 years. Prior to that he was a US Marshall for 11 years. He was an Army veteran of the Viet Nam era and he attended West Point Military Academy for 2 years. He enjoyed traveling, renovating homes to sell, and supported several charities and boards, especially Youth for Tomorrow. Rich was a free spirit who loved people and his family.
He is survived by his fiancé and love of his life, Christine DeTommaso of Honolulu, HI and her children Michelle and David, one brother, Samuel Barkett and his wife Cheryl of Boardman, OH, one sister, Roslyn Sekula and her husband Andrew of Poland, OH, nieces and nephews, Dr. Stephanie Dorbish and her husband Dr. Ronald, Natalie Saheli and her husband Eric, Lauren Barkett and fiancé Anthony and David Barkett and his wife Kate, and nine great nieces and great nephews.
Visitation will be held Saturday July 16, 2016 from 10 AM, to 12 Noon, at St. Elias Orthodox Church, 915 Lynn St., New Castle.
A Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated Saturday, July 16, 2016 at 12:00 Noon at the St. Elias Orthodox Church. Father James Barkett and Father Christopher Davis will officiate. Burial will be in the St. Nicholas Orthodox Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are by the William F. and Roger M. DeCarbo Funeral Home 926 Cunningham Avenue. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to: Youth for Tomorrow, 11835 Hazel Circle Drive, Bristow, VA 20136 or the American Cancer Society.
