Franklin J. Pounds

Franklin J. Pounds, Sr., 71, of Quarry Road, New Castle died July 17, 2016 at his residence. He was born in New Castle on January 11, 1945 to the late LeRoy and Gladys (Peak) Pounds. He was married to the late Suzzann B. (Presnar) Pounds who died September 27, 2015. Mr. Pounds was employed by the US postal service as a mail handler, retiring after 37 years. He was a member of the Zion Baptist Church. Mr. Pounds was a veteran of the US Navy, serving in Vietnam, on the USS GN. J.C. Breckinridge TAP 176 Troop Transport. He enjoyed collecting and restoring classic cars, hot rods, and cruising. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a life member of the VFW, and served as Jr. Vice Commander.

He is survived by four children. Franklin J. Pounds Jr. and his companion Leslie McCenahan, Tracy L. Owens, Matthew J. Pounds and his companion Cristine Smith, all of New Castle, and Leonard J. Pounds and his wife Isabelle (Shick) Pounds, of Fort Lauderdale, FL. He is also survived by three brothers, Ralph Pounds of Ellwood City, Paul Pounds and William Pounds of New Castle, three sisters, Beverly Uber of Grove City, Darlene Pounds of New Castle, and Phyllis McConahey of Slippery Rock. Mr. Pounds was also survived by three grandchildren, Mariah Owens, Concetta Pounds, and Matthew Pounds Jr.

In addition to his parents and wife he was also preceded in death by a brother, James Pounds.

Visitation will be held on at the William F. and Roger M. DeCarbo
Funeral Home 926 Cunningham Avenue on Tuesday, July 19, 2016, from 5pm to 8pm.

Funeral services for Mr. Pounds will be held at 10:00am Wednesday July 20, 2016, at the William F. DeCarbo Memorial Chapel. The Rev. Deacon Richard Stone of the St. John Maronite Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will be in Zion Baptist Cemetery.
