Doris I. Dryfuse, 67, of Dryfuse Ln., Wampum, went to be with the Lord, Sunday, June 14, 2009 at Jameson Memorial Hospital. She was born November 7, 1941 in Ellwood City, a daughter of the late Joseph and Belle (Houk) Piper. She married John S. Dryfuse, Jr. on December 24, 1977, he survives in Wampum. Mrs. Dryfuse was a dietician and cook at Avalon Nursing Home for 15 years. She enjoyed playing bingo, attending yard sales and collecting ceramic chickens. Doris will be sadly missed and remembered for caring for others before her self.
She is survived by five children, Samuel Dout of Pittsburgh, Jacqueline Williams and her husband James of Johnson City, TN, Rebecca Dryfuse and her husband Bruce Harris of East Palestine, OH, James Carter of Wampum, and John Dryfuse, III and his fiancé Candice Polanski of New Castle, two brothers, Robert Collier of Laray, VA, and Raymond Piper of California, three sisters, Susan Yoho of New Castle, Elsie May of St. Cloud, FL, and Mary Ann McComb of Kissimmee, FL, five grandchildren, Grant Meyer, III, Kyle and Austin Zimmerman, Blane Carl John Harris and Katera Harris, one great granddaughter, Jasmyn Jacqueline Meyer, and her special care givers in her time of need, Cindy Shannon and Darlene Nelson..
She was preceded in death by one brother Kenneth Piper, and one sister Donna Miller.
Visitation will be held at the William F. & Roger M. DeCarbo Funeral Home on Wednesday, June 17, 2009 from 10 am to 12 noon.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 17, 2009 at 12:00 noon at the William F. DeCarbo Memorial Chapel. Pastor Thomas Barnts of First Alliance Church will be officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Doris has requested that memorial contributions be made in her memory to the American Cancer Society.
