Anthony J. DeLorenzo, 84, of Edison Manor, formerly of S. Jefferson St., died Tuesday, June 23, 2009 at Edison Manor Nursing Home. He was born May 28, 1925 in New Castle, a son of the late Nicholas and Carmella (Mancino) DeLorenzo. Mr. DeLorenzo was a heating contractor for Baron Heating for many years. He was an Army Air Corp. veteran of World War II serving in the Pacific with the 89th Fighter Squadron. He received the Good Conduct Medal, American Campaign Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal w/ 2 Bronze Stars and the World War II Victory Medal for his service. Mr. DeLorenzo was a member of St. Vitus Church and enjoyed golfing and was an avid Pittsburgh sports fan.
He is survived by two sons, Randy Montgomery of New Castle, and Jeffery DeLorenzo of Pittsburgh, three sisters, Wilma Boano of Boardman, Deana Vitale of Las Vegas, and Camilla Schepp of Ft. Lauderdale, three grandchildren, two great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Andrew DiLorenzo, and five sisters, Mary Tavolieri, Margaret Veniezie, Olympia ‘Thelma’ Sparacino, Phyllis Hamidy, and Rose Bettoni.
Visitation will be held at the William F. & Roger M. DeCarbo Funeral Home on Friday, June 26, 2009 from 5 pm to 8 pm.
Blessing services will be held Saturday, June 27, 2009 at 10:00 am at the William F. DeCarbo Memorial Chapel. Father John Petrarulo of St. Vitus Church will be officiating. Burial will be in the St. Vitus Cemetery. The New Castle Area Honor Guard will perform Military Funeral Rites at the funeral home.
