John Parillo, Sr., 82, of 609 Barker Ave., New Castle, died Wednesday night, April 19, 2006 at Golden Hill Nursing Home in New Castle, Pennsylvania. He was born April 15, 1924 in New Castle, Pennsylvania the son of Joseph and Maria (Carusone) Parillo, Sr., they precede him in death. He married Jean (DiGiacomo) Parillo on December 2, 1950, she survives in New Castle. Mr. Parillo retired from Rockwell International Axle Divison in 1989 after 40 years as a steel worker. He attended First Assembly of God Church and was a member of Lodge of the Craft #433. He was also a member of United Steelworkers of America Local # 4194, he served 5 consecutive terms as an officer of the union, including president. Mr. Parillo was an Army veteran of World War II serving in Europe. He served with the 5th Infantry Regiment 71st Division. For his service he received a Purple Heart, the European African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with 5 Bronze Stars and various other medals and citations.
In addition to his wife he is survived by, 2 daugthers, Joanne Massey of Greenbrier, TN, and Mrs. Douglas (Julianne) Brown of New Castle, PA, 1 son, John Parillo, Jr. of Pittsburgh, PA, 2 granddaughters, Brittnye D. Massey of Atlanta, GA and E. Grace Massey of Greenbrier, TN, 1 great granddaughter, Sydney Elizabeth Downard of Greenbrier, TN and 1 brother, Joseph Parillo, Jr. of Florida.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Biagio ‘Benny’ Parillo and Andrew Parillo, and 3 sisters, Julia Parillo, Charlotte Krossman and Mary Parillo.
Visitation will be held at the William F. & Roger M. DeCarbo Funeral Home on Saturday from 11 am to 1 pm.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 22, 2006 at 1:00 P.M. at the William F. DeCarbo Memorial Chapel. Pastor Kenneth Meyer of First Assembly of God will be officiating.
