Mary C. Simpkins, 83, of Jameson Care Center, formerly of Countyline St., New Castle died Thursday morning, May 4, 2006 at Jameson Care Center. She was born March 17, 1923 in Sharpsburg, Pennsylvania a daughter of John Richards and Ruperta (Boles) Richards Perrone. Her parents precede her in death. She is also preceded in death by a step-father Frank Perrone. She married Clyde Simpkins in July of 1954. He died January 24, 1969. Mary was a homemaker, known for making things with her hands and she loved baking. She was the first usherette at the Stanley Theater in New Castle and interviewed Tommy Dorcy and other big band leaders and the 3 Stooges for the theater.
She is survived by 3 daughters, Cynthia Schuster, Patricia Cartwright, and Susan Grigsby all of New Castle, PA, 3 sons, John Simpkins of New Castle, PA, Charles Simpkins of Tuscaloosa, AL, and Claude Simpkins of Chicago, IL, 2 brothers, George Perrone and Charles Perrone both of Pittsburgh, PA, 1 sister, Jean Migle of Pittsburgh, PA, 23 grandchildren, 38 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son Robert Sedor, 2 daughters Sharon Rose Simpkins and Frances Ruperta Simpkins, her sister Lorraine Harris, 3 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.
Visitation will be held at the William F. & Roger M. DeCarbo Funeral Home on Saturday from 11 am to 1 pm.
A Blessing Service will be held Saturday, May 6, 2006 at 1:00 P.M. at the William F. DeCarbo Memorial Chapel. Father Robert Zajdel of St. Vitus Church will be officiating. Burial will be in the Savannah Cemetery.
