Annette Scungio Sheridan, 55, of Greenville, PA, died Saturday, September 19, 2009 at her sister’s residence in New Castle, after struggling with the effects of Primary Progressive MS for 3 years. Her sister Mary Ann, her best friend Barb Cassella, her cousin Mike Santangelo, and her nephew Vince Scungio, Jr., were at her beside. She also leaves her dog Sunshine. She was born December 13, 1953 in New Castle, a daughter of the late Frank and Rose (Barlett) Scungio. Annette also has a brother, Major Vincent A. Scungio who is MIA in Vietnam. She worked for the Warren County Human Services as a Supports Coordinator for the mentally challenged. Annette was a graduate of New Castle High School Class of 1971, and the University of Pittsburgh Class of 1973where she earned a Bachelors Degree in Math and English and a minor in Psychology. Annette also tried to keep the MIA POW Issue alive. She was an auxiliary member of the Vincent A. Scungio Amvets Post 281 and an honorary member of the Mercer County Vietnam Era Veterans Association.
A private Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, September 26, 2009 at the William F. DeCarbo Memorial Chapel. Msgr. Andrew Karg of St. Michael Catholic Church of Greenville, PA will be officiating. Burial will be in St. Vitus Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are by the William F. & Roger M.
