Mary Bassett

Mary Bassett, 79, of New Castle, Pennsylvania, was surrendered by her loving family and went to be with the Lord at 11:45 pm on November 17, 2009, in Fairview Hospital Hospice, Cleveland, Ohio.
Mary was born December 22, 1929, in New Castle, Pennsylvania, to Joseph (Guissepi) and Rose Averso (nee Giangolini).

Mary loved her family and friends dearly. She was always there when needed and was forever volunteering for everything. Mary enjoyed arts & crafts, baking, playing bingo and reading. She always found comfort when reading her Bible. She never missed an episode of her favorite show “Young and the Restless” and was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan.

Mary is the beloved mother of and survived by her children: Barbara Ann Neale(nee Aven), Gay Rose Benio, Mary Elizabeth Aven, Nancy Renee O’Boyle(Kevin), Dominick Donald Aven(Gail Jackson); Grandmother of : Glenn George Jones(Monica), Toni Renee Drabek, Denise Renee Torok(Eric Torok), Beth Ann Jones, Marissa Ann Kilgore(Lawrence), Dominick Aven, Thomas Joseph Moran, Brian Christopher Moran, Amanda Rose O’Boyle; Great Grandmother of eleven and Great Great Grandmother of one: Sister of Aneble Averso (JoAnne), Nancy Jones and Esther Wolven(Gordon). Mary had many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She is preceded in death by her parents, brothers: Domenick Averso, Augustine Averso; sister, Susan Tatler; and Grandsons: Craig Benio, Herbert Wright and Jason O’Boyle.

Friends may pay their respects on Friday, November 20, 2009 from 5:00p.m. - 8:00p.m. at the William F. & Roger M. DeCarbo Funeral Home, 926 Cunningham Avenue, New Castle.

Funeral services will be held, Saturday, November 21, 2009 at 11:00a.m. at the William F. DeCarbo Memorial Chapel. Burial will be in Castle View Memorial Gardens.
