Irene Giannone, 80, of Golden Hill Nursing Home, New Castle, died Saturday afternoon, June 17, 2006 at Golden Hill Nursing Home in New Castle, Pennsylvania. She was born January 1, 1926 in New Castle, Pennsylvania the daughter of Norman and Verna (Eckelberger) McConnell. Her parents precede her in death. She is also preceded in death by her step-mother, Susan Park. Mrs. Giannone was married to James J. Giannone for 49 years, he survives in New Castle. Mrs. Giannone worked at the Shenango China for many years and then was a cook at Coney Island Restaurant in New Castle for many years. She was a member of Mary Mother of Hope Parish and the Ladies of the Dukes and was an avid bingo player.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by, 2 sons, Frank Giannone and James Giannone both of New Castle, PA, 1 daughter, Mrs. Todd (Maryan) Stoner of New Castle, PA, 1 brother, Harold McConnell of Wampum, PA and 2 granddaughters.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Carl McConnell and Arthur McConnell, and 4 sisters, Martha Stevens, Myrtle List, Gertrude List, and Evelyn McConnell.
Visitation will be held at the William F. & Roger M. DeCarbo Funeral Home on Tuesday, June 21, 2006 from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, June 21, 2006 at 9:00 A.M. at St. Mary Church. Father Victor J. Molka, Jr. of Mary Mother of Hope Parish will be officiating. A funeral procession will leave the funeral home at 8:30 am. Burial will be in the Castle View Memorial Gardens.
