Florence D. Tommelleo, 89, of 701 W. Clayton St., New Castle, died Saturday morning, June 24, 2006 at her home in New Castle, Pennsylvania. She was born May 1, 1917 in New Castle, Pennsylvania a daughter of Sam and Agnes (Martino) Rainey. Her parents precede her in death. She was married to Rocco J. Tommelleo who died on February 25, 1997. Mrs. Tommelleo was a clerk at Hyde's Drug Store in Mahoningtown retiring after 37 years. She was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Parish and the Women of Faith of St. Vincent de Paul Parish. Mrs. Tommelleo enjoyed bowling and casino trips. She was also a member of the 37 club and was a member of a group of childhood friends called the Variety Club for over 60 years.
She is survived by 2 daughters, Mrs. Russell (Patricia Ann) Cook of Chino Hills, CA and Mrs. Nick (Kathleen) Perod of New Castle, PA, 1 brother, Louis P. Rainey of New Castle, PA, 3 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son Rocco W. 'Chipper' Tommelleo, 2 brothers John Rainey and Alfred Rainey, and her sister Ann M. Maiorano.
Visitation will be held at the William F. & Roger M. DeCarbo Funeral Home on Wednesday, June 28, 2006 from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, June 29, 2006 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Lucy Church. Father Kenneth Keene of St. Vincent de Paul Parish and Father Reginald Russo, god-son of the deceased, will be officiating. A funeral procession will leave the funeral home at 10:30 am. Burial will be in the St. Lucy Cemetery.
