Ira S. ‘Porky’ Watt, 80, of 401 W. Cherry St., New Castle, died Tuesday evening, June 27, 2006 at Jameson Memorial Hospital in New Castle, Pennsylvania. He was born October 24, 1925 in New Castle, Pennsylvania a son of Adrian and Twila (Moore) Watt. His parents precede him in death. He was married to Mary L. (Wardle) Watt. She survives in New Castle. Mr. Watt was a truck driver for Teamsters Local #261 retiring after 40 years. He was a Navy veteran of World Warr II serving as a gunner on various Merchant Marine ships in the Atlantic and Pacific Theaters. He enjoyed fishing, woodworking and playing card with friends and family.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by 2 sons, Frank Watt of California and Ira S. Watt, Jr. and his wife Jeanette of North Carolina, 5 daughters, Mary Cummins of New Castle, PA, Shirley Grotzinger and her husband Steve of New Castle, PA, Carol Bezak of New Castle, PA, Iris Bailey and her husband Randy of Portersville, PA, and Bonnie Kerr and her husband Ed of Edinburg, PA, 2 step-daughters, Deborah Heath and her husband Robert of New Castle, PA and Catherine Biddle and her husband Richard of New Castle, PA, 2 step-sons, Robert J. Frank and his wife Karen of South Carolina and Albert M. Frank and his wife Valerie of Edinburg, PA, 1 brother, Henry Watt of New Castle, PA, 26 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren, 7 great great grandchildren, 9 step-grandchildren and 6 step-great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son Samuel Watt, 3 brothers Cecil, Francis and Albert Watt, and 2 sisters, Albertha Jones and Twila Taylor.
A Private funeral service will be held at the William F. DeCarbo Memorial Chapel. Burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery.
