Michael Gaborko, Jr., 84, of Sewickley, PA, formerly of Hubbard, OH and Sharon, PA, died Thursday, December 31, 2009 at Golden Hill Nursing Home in New Castle. He was born October 8, 1925 in Holsapel, Pennsylvania a son of the late Michael and Mary (Shirilla) Gaborko. He married Marie Morsillo Gaborko in 1969, she survives in Sewickley. Mr. Gaborko was owner and operator of Arrow Auto Sales and Foreign Import in Leetsdale, PA for many years. He attended Westminster College and Youngstown State University and received a degree in Psychology. Mr. Gaborko was a Army veteran of World War II, served in Europe with the 82nd Air Borne Paratroopers. He was an avid trumpet player and played with many area bands over the years.
He is survived by one son, Michael Gaborko, III of Sewickley, PA, one step-daughter, Gloria Mash and her husband Jim of New Middletown, OH, one step-son, Frank Mench and his wife Cindy of El Paso, TX, one step-daughter, Lisa Snyder and her husband Douglas of Butler, PA and a number of grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held at the John Syka Funeral Home, 833 Kennedy Dr., Ambridge, PA on Tuesday, January 5, 2010 from 10 am to 12 noon.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 5, 2010 at 12:00 pm at the John Syka Funeral Home. Pastor Louis A. LaGatta will be officiating. Entombment will be in the Mt. Olivert Catholic Cemetery in Aliquippa. Member of the Beaver County Special Unit will meet at 12:30 pm at the cemetery mausoleum to provide Full Military Honors for Mr. Gaborko. Funeral arrangements are by the William F. & Roger M. DeCarbo Funeral Home.
