Robert O. Powell

Robert O. Powell, 79, of State Road, Hickory Township, died Tuesday, January 19, 2010 at Jameson Memorial Hospital. He was born July 31, 1930 in New Castle, a son of the late Albert and Anna (Flicker) Powell. He was married to Ethel Mae (Duffy) Powell who died in 1973. Mr. Powell was a welder at Sharon Steel for many years. He also was a self-employed contractor and worked as a security guard in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. He was a member of the National Guard and the CG's Club and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and collecting old cars.
He is survived by one son, Robert Powell of New Castle, three daughters, Cindy Benicase and her husband Daniel, and Terri Marshall, both of New Castle, and Tammy Martin and her husband Randal of Hillsville, one brother, Walter Powell of New Castle, three sisters, Pauline Freeman of Grove City, Mary Thomas of New Castle, and Shirley Adams of Ocean City, MD, eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Albert and Leonard Powell.
Private funeral services will be held. Funeral arrangements are by the William F. & Roger M. DeCarbo Funeral Home, 926 Cunningham Avenue. Burial will be in the Neshannock Cemetery in New Wilmington.
