Maryjo R. Peluso, 51, of E. Hazelcroft Avenue, New Castle, died Saturday, February 6, 2010 at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh. She was born April 24, 1958 in New Castle, a daughter of the late Michael Peluso and Helen (Jason) Peluso. Her mother survives in New Castle. She married David F. Miller on November 24, 2000, he survives in New Castle. Mrs. Peluso taught Science at New Castle High School for 15 years. Prior to that she taught at Penn Cambria High School. She received a Bachelors Degree in Geology from Slippery Rock University and worked at a Geologist for many years in the Oil & Gas industry. She then received her Teaching Certificate from the University of Pittsburgh, Johnstown and her Masters Degree in Education from St. Francis University of PA. Mrs. Peluso was the founder and advisor of the International Club at New Castle High School. She was also the area representative for the last 13 years of ASSE and PAX Exchange Student Agencies. She has hosted 12 exchange students and has been involved with all of the Lawrence County exchange students for the past 13 years. Mrs. Peluso has made a trip to Kenya and many trips to Europe to visit her kids.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by, two brothers, Michael Peluso of New Castle, and John Peluso of Pittsburgh, one sister, Patty Bruno of Boardman, OH, and her ‘kids’, Anais Goacolou of France, Maria Stjernsward of Sweden, Andrea Ponce of Brazil, Hana Bohocova of Czech Republic, Sophie Schreiber of Germany, Sirilak (Jin) Sirivongsavate of Thailand, Vojtech Hybler of Czech Republic, Kateryna Sayfutdinova of Ukraine, Rene Doescher of Germany, Linet Onduso of Kenya, Fanny Goacolou of France, and Oksana Ruslan of Ukraine.

She was also preceded in death by her sister, Alberta S. Peluso.

Visitation will be held at the William F. & Roger M. DeCarbo Funeral Home, 926 Cunningham Avenue, on Friday, February 12, 2010 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 13, 2010 at 11:00 am at the William F. DeCarbo Memorial Chapel. Pastor Sean Walters of Christ Lutheran Church will be officiating. Memorial contributions can be made to the local Salvation Army or Promises for Pets.
