Domenick 'Doc' Valenti

Domenick ‘Doc’ Valenti, 79, of W. Sheridan Avenue, died Saturday, February 13, 2010 at Jameson Memorial Hospital. He was born March 8, 1930 in New Castle, a son of the late Libero and Lucy (Prozoic) Valenti. He was married to Rose (Damato) Valenti whodied September 22, 2007. Mr. Valenti was a custodian for New Castle Area Schools retiring after 20 years. Prior to that he was a roofer for many years. Mr. Valenti was a member of the Duca Degli Abruzzi and Eagles Club. He enjoyed golfing, and playing cards and craps. Mr. Valenti also coached Croton Pop Warner Football for many years and was a halfback on the 1948 New Castle High School WPIAL Championship Football Team. Mr. Valenti was an Army veteran of the Korean War.

He is survived by one son, Mark Valenti and his wife Susann of New Castle, two step-daughters, Bernadette ‘Bunny’ Marry, and Toni Ann Caffro, both of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, one step-son, Terry Caffro of Winter Park, FL, two sisters, Mary DuBrock of Cleveland, OH, and Stella Ferguson of Laramie, WY, four grandchildren, Samantha Rose, Olivia Victoria, Jack Christian, and Juliana Kristina Valenti, and two step-grandsons, Matthew and Michael Marry.

He was also preceded in death by one step-son, Jeff Caffro, and one brother, Samuel Valenti.

Visitation will be held at the William F. & Roger M. DeCarbo Funeral Home on Wednesday, February 17, 2010 from 5 pm to 8 pm.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, February 18, 2010 at 10:30 am at St. Vitus Church. Father James Downs of Christ the King Parish will be officiating. A funeral procession will leave the funeral home at 10:00 am. Burial will be in the St. Vitus Cemetery. The New Castle Area Honor Guard will perform Military Funeral Rites at the cemetery.
