Donald Mcconnell

Donald McConnell, 82, of 240 Robinson St., Edinburg, died Wednesday morning, August 2, 2006 at his home in Edinburg, Pennsylvania. He was born November 12, 1923 in Slippery Rock, Pennsylvania a son of Jacob and Ella (Buchanan) McConnell. His parents precede him in death. He married Marjorie L. Evans McConnell on June 12, 1957, she survives in Edinburg. Mr. McConnell worked as a truck driver for C.D. Ambrosia retiring after 47 years. He was an Army veteran of World War II. Mr. McConnell was a member of the Moose Lodge #51, the St. Lucy Club and the Johnson Club.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by, 4 sons, Gaylord McConnell of Edinburg, PA, Dennis McConnell of New Castle, PA, Raymond McConnell of Edinburg, PA and Mark McConnell of Edinburg, PA, 1 step-son, David Zambino of Sharon, PA, 3 step-daughters, Barb Book of Bessemer, PA, Penny Fitzgerald of St. Louis, MO and Vicki Reed of Mercer, PA, 1 brother, Gaylord Mcconnell of Slippery Rock, PA, 19 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by, his son Paul McConnell, his brother Earl McConnell, and 2 sisters, Amy Thompson and Pearl Hogg.

Visitation will be held at the William F. & Roger M. DeCarbo Funeral Home, 926 Cunningham Ave., New Castle on Friday, August 4, 2006 from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 5, 2006 at 10:00 A.M. at the William F. DeCarbo Memorial Chapel. Rev. Dennis Bupp will be officiating. Burial will be in the Slippery Rock Cemetery in Slippery Rock, PA. The New Castle Area Honor Guard will perform Military Funeral Rites at the funeral home.
