Enrico H. ‘Henry the Barber’ Giammatteo, 80, of 813 Dushane St., New Castle, died Sunday morning, August 13, 2006 at Jameson Memorial Hospital in New Castle, Pennsylvania. He was born May 12, 1926 in S. Demetrio Ne' Vestini, L’Aquila, Italy the son of Alphonso and Assunta (Mariana) Giammatteo. His parents precede him in death. He married Elizabeth (DeMatto) Tuminello Giammatteo on July 16, 1983, she survives in New Castle. Mr. Giammatteo was owner and operator of Henry's Barber Shop in New Castle retiring after 45 years. He was a Korean War veteran serving in a M.A.S.H. Unit in Korea. Mr. Giammatteo was a member of the St. Vitus Church and sang in the church choir. He also enjoyed golfing and gardening and was especially proud of his tomatoes.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by, 2 sons, Alphonso Giammatteo and his wife Joyce of New Castle, PA and Anthony Giammatteo and his wife Tina of New Castle, PA, 5 grandchildren and 1 great grandson.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his 1st wife Ophelia (Antonini) Giammatteo, his son Joseph Giammatteo and his sister Letizia Ulizio.

Visitation will be held at the William F. & Roger M. DeCarbo Funeral Home on Tuesday, August 15, 2006 from 6 to 8 pm.

Blessing services will be held Wednesday, August 16, 2006 at 12:00 P.M. at the William F. DeCarbo Memorial Chapel. Father John Petrarulo of St. Vitus Church will be officiating. The New Castle Area Honor Guard will perform Military Funeral Rites at the Funeral Home. Burial will be in the St. Vitus Cemetery.
