Virginia Zella ‘Ginger’ Stone, 80, of Miller Avenue, Union Township, died Thursday, March 11, 2010 at Jameson Memorial Hospital. She was born August 1, 1929 in New Castle, a daughter of the late Claude and Ethel (Miner) Cumberledge. She married Charles ‘Chum’ Stone on April 7, 1928, he survives in New Castle. Mrs. Stone was a bartender and a cook at the Croton Cafe for many years. She loved spending time with her family, especially her great grandson Tyler.
She is survived by two daughters, Kathy Montgomery and Carol Morrison, both of New Castle, one step-son, Gary Stone and his wife Carol of New Castle, two brothers, Charles Cumberledge of New Castle, and Dean Cumberledge and his wife Helena of Hermitage, two grandchildren, April & Bob Prestopine and Arthur & Patti Morrison, three great grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by, two brothers, Claude and William Cumberledge, and two sisters, Charlotte Conti and Loretta Moore.
Visitation will be held at the William F. & Roger M. DeCarbo Funeral Home on Sunday, March 14, 2010 from 5 pm to 8 pm.
Funeral services will be held Monday, March 15, 2010 at 11:00 am at the William F. DeCarbo Memorial Chapel. Rev. Dr. Elizabeth McCormick will be officiating. Burial will be in the Oak Park Cemetery.
