Peter A. Piccirillo, 85, of E. Fairmont Avenue, died Sunday, May 2, 2010 at Golden Hill Nursing Home in New Castle. He was born October 2, 1924 in New Castle, a son of the late Pasquale and Raffaella (DiBenedetto) Piccirillo. He was married to Albina N. (DiThomas) Piccirillo who died on September 9, 2008. Mr. Piccirillo worked in the Appellate Division of the Internal Revenue Service retiring after 33 years. He also worked as a consultant for Carbis Walker for many years. Mr. Piccirillo was an Army veteran of World War II serving in Europe. For his service he received the European Service Ribbon with one Bronze Battle Star and the Purple Heart. He was a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh and enjoyed traveling.
He is survived by two daughters, Linda Ann Piccirillo-Smith and her husband James of Munroe Falls, OH, and Julie Karen Miller and her husband Gary of Oakmont, PA, four brothers, Genero, Patsy, Donald, and Alexander ‘Sam’ Piccirillo, all of New Castle, one sister, Anna Hruska of Gulf Breeze, FL, three grandchildren, David and Adam Ranucci, and Justin Miller, and one great grandson, Johnathan Ranucci.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by, one brother, Angelo Piccirillo, and two sisters, Caroline Razzano and Angela Piccirillo.
Visitation will be held at St. Vincent de Paul Church on Wednesday, May 5, 2010 from 10 am to 11 am.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, May 5, 2010 at 11:00 am at St. Vincent de Paul Church, 1 Lucymont Dr., New Castle. Father Steve Palsa of St. Vincent de Paul Parish will be officiating. Burial will be in the St. Lucy Cemetery. The New Castle Area Honor Guard will perform Military Funeral Rites at the cemetery. Funeral arrangements are by the William F. & Roger M. DeCarbo Funeral Home.
