Michael M. Decesare

Michael M. DeCesare, 82, of 1424 Harlansburg Rd, New Castle, died Saturday morning, September 16, 2006 at Jameson Memorial Hospital in New Castle, Pennsylvania. He was born September 1, 1924 in New Castle, Pennsylvania a son of Carmine and Sabia (Calabrese) DeCesare. His parents precede him in death. He was married to Irene S. (Dando) DeCesare, who died March 27, 2005. Mr. DeCesare was the Head of Maintenance at the New Castle Foundry, retiring after 30 years. He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving with the 78th division in Europe. Mr. DeCesare was a past Fire Chief for the South New Castle Boro Volunteer Firer Department. He was a member of the Eagles Club, the Sons of Italy, VFW and the American Legion and the St. Margaret's Club. He also enjoyed gardening and doing handy work.

He is survived by 3 daughters, Kathleen DeCesare of New Castle, PA, Mrs. Robert ‘Sonny’ (Virginia) Grossman of Grove City, PA, and Mrs. George (Michelle) Schweikert of New Castle, PA, 1 son, Michael DeCesare and his wife, Mary Ann of Pittsburgh, PA, 1 brother, Frank DeCesare of New Castle, PA, 2 sisters, Ann Micaletti and Rita Dado both of New Castle, PA, and 3 grandchildren, Jessie and Robert Grossman and Joey Schweikert.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Virginia DeCesare and Gemma DeCesare.

Visitation will be held at the William F. & Roger M. DeCarbo Funeral Home, 926 Cunningham Ave., New Castle on Tuesday, September 19, 2006 from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, September 20, 2006 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Vitus Church. Father Robert Zajdel of St. Vitus Church will be officiating. A funeral procession will leave the funeral home at 9:30 am. Entombment will be in the Resurrection Mausoleum. The New Castle Area Honor Guard will perform military funeral rites at the cemetery.
