Ronald Leroy Kordish, 65, of Charlotte, NC died Wednesday, May 12th, 2010 at Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte. He was born on March 22nd, 1945 in Spangler, PA the son of the late Alva Ruth Shaffer Cook and John Kordish. He was employed with Rockwell International in New Castle for 20 years before being laid off in 1991. He returned to school and received his GED and later obtained a 2 year degree as an Orthotics and Prosthetics Technician. He served in the United States Army for 14 years and also as a volunteer firefighter/EMT for Shenango Volunteer Fire Department for several years. He was a resident of New Castle until December 1995 when he accepted a position with Hanger Orthotics and Prosthetics in Charlotte, NC. He retired after 13 years with Hanger but continued to work part time after his retirement as he loved his work and helping people in the community. He was thought of by his family as very loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and uncle.
He is survived by his three daughters, Lynn Ann Kordish Glidden of New Castle, Kelly Jean Kordish Field of Harrisburg, NC, and Karyn Leigh Kordish of Asheville, NC, and one son, Ronald Steven Kordish of New Castle. He also leaves behind several siblings John Kordish of Melborn, FL, James Kordish, David Kordish, George Kordish, Robert Kordish, Chuck Kordish, Donna Cook Nero, Janice Cook, Carolyn Cook, Gary Cook, Jeff Cook, and Tammy Cook Pauline of New Castle. He is a grandfather of five, Tiffany Marie McNicolas of Oak Grove, KY, Stephanie Nicole Zingaro, Zachary Robert Jacob Zingaro, John Edward Glidden, and Elizabeth Ann Glidden of New Castle and great-grandfather of Patrick David McNicolas of Oak Grove, KY.
Visitation will be held at the William F. & Roger M. DeCarbo Funeral Home on Monday, May 17, 2010 from 3 pm to 6 pm.
Funeral services will be held Monday, May 17, 2010 at 6:00 pm at the William F. DeCarbo Memorial Chapel. Rev. Dennis Bupp will be officiating. Burial will be in the Castle View Cemetery.
