Margaret L. Fontana, 86, of Golden Hill Nursing Home, formerly of Forrest St., New Castle, died Sunday evening, September 17, 2006 at Jameson Memorial Hospital in New Castle, Pennsylvania. She was born December 16, 1919 in New Castle, Pennsylvania a daughter of Patsy and Julia (Santillo) Nero, her parents precede her in death. She was married to Domenic ‘Orphie’ Fontana, who died on June 20, 1974. Mrs. Fontana worked in the Housekeeping Department at Golden Hill Nursing Home for 5 years. She was a member of the St. Vitus Church and the Ladies Auxiliary of St. Vitus and was an avid Steelers fan.

She is survived by 2 sons, Thomas Fontana of New Castle, PA and Chuckie Fontana and his wife Doris of New Castle, PA, 3 daughters, Mrs. David (JoAnn) Cain, Mrs. James (Angela) Compeli, and Mrs. Angelo (Janis) Ferrazzano all of New Castle, PA, 2 brothers, Marion ‘Duddy’ Nero and Anthony Nero both of New Castle, PA, 2 sisters, Theresa Ludovici and Mae Nero both of New Castle, PA, 11 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son Domenic Fontana, 4 brothers, Joseph Nero, Chuckie Nero, Benny ‘Figo’ Nero, and Alfonso Nero, 4 sisters, Ann Voras, Veronica Nero, Jane Nero and Antoinette Carbone and one grandson.

Visitation will be held at the William F. & Roger M. DeCarbo Funeral Home on Tuesday, September 19, 2006 from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, September 20, 2006 at 12:00 P.M. at St. Vitus Church. Father John Petrarulo of St. Vitus Church will be officiating. A funeral procession will leave the funeral home at 11:30 am. Burial will be in the St. Vitus Cemetery.
