Fern L. Covert

Fern L. Covert, 77, formerly of Sunview Drive, Hickory Township, died Monday, June 28, 2010 at Haven Nursing Home in New Castle. She was born October 11, 1932 in New Castle, a daughter of the late Charles and Viola (Frost) Turk. She married Jack J. Covert, Sr. on September 23, 1948, he died on March 8, 1988. Mrs. Covert worked in Data Entry and as a Switch Board Operator at St. Francis Hosital retiring after 42 years. She was a member of the Mary Mother of Hope Parish and enjoyed going to casinos and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She is survived by two daughters, Terry L. Harvatine of New Castle, PA, and April L. Hudak of Florida, one son, Jack J. Covert, Jr. and his wife Linda of Maryland, seven grandchildren, Stephanie Hennon of New Castle, Christine Kwiat of Wisconsin, Lonnie Thompson of Virginia, Frank Hudak of Smehtport, PA, Stephen Hudak of Coryville, PA, Christopher Covert, and Brian Covert both of Maryland, and eleven great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles and Eugene Turk, and three sisters, Gladys Weaver, Mary Cameron, and Martha Ferrone.

Visitation will be held at the William F. & Roger M. DeCarbo Funeral Home, 926 Cunningham Avenue on Thursday, July 1, 2010 from 6 pm to 8 pm.

Blessing services will be held Friday, July 2, 2010 at 11:00 am at the William F. DeCarbo Memorial Chapel. Father Victor J. Molka, Jr. of Mary Mother of Hope Parish will be officiating. Burial will be in Savannah Cemetery in New Castle.
