Anthony F. Cioffi, 91, of N. Vine St., died at 4:15 pm Saturday August 14th 2010, at Jameson Hospital. He was born November 5th 1918 in New Castle PA to the late Gennaro and Principia (DiGregario) Cioffi, He was married too Mary R. (Querriera) Cioffi, who died in 2008, Mr. Cioffi was a self employed contractor for over 40 years for A.F. Cioffi and Son, He was an Amry Veteran of World War II serving with the Combat Engineers stateside. Mr. Cioffi was a member of the Duca Labrizzi Club and St. Vitus Church. He was an Usher and worked at the Bazaar & Fundraisers for the church for many years. Mr. Cioffi was a member of the New Castle Zoning Board for 17 years and a former Chairman of the Board. He was Chairman of the Assessment Appeal Board for Lawrence County and on Redevelopment Authority of New Castle for many years. Mr. Cioffi was a former Vice-Chairman and Chairman of the Lawrence County Republican Party, in 1996 for outstanding service to the Republican party he was chosen the man of the year, He was also on the Board of Directors of the South Hills Athletic Association and Family 1st Federal Credit Union, Part owner of the original caravan restaurant and part owner of the original parkstown bowling lanes, Owner of a local lumber yard and was a local developer of many projects, also a cook and manager of the north side cafeteria in Pittsburgh for 4 years, Mr. Cioffi was a devoted New Castle football fan and a hunter.

He was survived by two daughters, Mrs. Jean M. Conti and husband Richard, Mrs. Sandra L. Burgo and husband Raymond. A son Larry J. Cioffi and wife Betty all of New Castle. Two sisters Clara DeGidio and Ann Shaffer both of New Castle. Eight grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by four brothers, Domenick, Joseph, Patsy, and Carmon Cioffi, and two sisters Philomena Marso and Julia Colucci, and two grandchildren, Mary Beth Conti and Larry Cioffi II, and one great granddaughter Gianna Cioppa.

Visitation will be held Tuesday August 17th 2010 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the William F. and Roger M. DeCarbo Funeral Home 926 Cunningham Ave.

A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday August 18th 2010 at 10:00am at St. Vitus Church. Father John Petrarulo of St. Vitus Church will officiate. A funeral procession will leave the funeral home at 9:30am. Burial will be at St. Vitus Cemetery the New Castle Area Honor Guard will perform military funeral rites at the cemetery.
