John B. Augustine

John B. Augustine, 87, Meriline Avenue, Union Twp., died Sunday, August 22, 2010 in New Caste. He was born April 5, 1923 in New Castle, a son of the late George and Theresa (Restino) Augustine. He was married to Florence (Eckley) Augustine who died in 2003. Mr. Augustine was an operating engineer for Romed Paving retiring after many years. He also shot fireworks for Zambelli International for many years. Mr. Augustine was a Navy Veteran of World War II. He was a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers, was an avid gardener, enjoyed flea markets, and animals, especially pet dogs.

He is survived by two sons, John C. Augustine of Chicago, IL, and John B. Augustine, Jr. of New Castle, one grandson, John Devore, and a number of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Bonnie Devore, two brothers, Joseph and Jake Augustine, and one sister, Rose DeFiore.

Visitation will be held at the William F. & Roger M. DeCarbo Funeral Home, 926 Cunningham Avenue, on Thursday, August 26, 2010 from 5 P.M. to 8 P.M.

Blessing services will be held Thursday, August 26, 2010 at 8:00 P.M. at the William F. & Roger M. DeCarbo Funeral Home. Father John Petrarulo of St. Vitus Church will be officiating. The New Castle Area Honor Guard will perform military funeral rites at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery.
